A skill is the ability to carry out a task with determined results often within a given amount of time, energy or both… Skill usually requires certain environmental stimuli and situations to assess the level of skill being shown and used.

Graduate employers place a lot of emphasis on finding candidates with the right skills and competencies for their organizations. Depending on the career sector and profession you choose to work in, there could be very specific skills, abilities, and knowledge needed to do the job.

Skills you need to develop if you want to be rich.

DISCIPLINE.

Success in business and in life is not a sprint its a marathon, your ability to keep one foot in front of the other no matter how difficult it is, the weather is like, what people are saying or how you feel each day is what will get you to the finish line.

It doesn’t matter what you are trying to achieve, if you cannot discipline your action it means you probably not going to get it, so what is discipline anyway? It is your ability to dig deeper  within yourself  and identify your true goal every single day, for instance, if you want to get in shame it means mastering your nutrition and hitting the gym every single day it doesn’t matter if it’s snowing outside or you don’t feel like it,

Discipline means you will take care of most of your important tasks relating to your long term goal before anything else. This might sound easy but the number one reason why most people fail in life is that they are unable to discipline themselves, to put in the work over an extended period of time.

How do you develop discipline?

  1. Define what you want.
  2. Evaluate why you want it.
  3. Eliminate distraction.
  4. Prioritize the most important tasks.
  5. Track your progress.
  6. Keep yourself accountable.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.

People think that IQ is really important if you want to be rich and successful the truth is having is, having IQ could be a bonus but it is not what will make you rich. High IQ rarely correlates to having financial success because money isn’t the result of word comprehension, math skills, and special thinking but instead it has to do with understanding how people work, think, want, need and how to really understand that information.

Emotional Intelligence is far more important than in business and in life than your IQ, you don’t have to be smart in school to be rich because most A’s students end up working for B+ students while the + students waste their time trying to memorize all the useless information they get in school which doesn’t really apply to real life.

Business and life are not about how you able to grasp information but instead, connect the dots in the real world and find ways to build your life on top of that. If you want to be rich, you need to be able to work well with others and be in control of your feelings.

SELF MOTIVATION.

Things will get harder in your journey and to be honest you in this alone, yes your family and friends will be around but it’s within yourself where you really make the decision to put in that time and effort.

If you are unable to motivate yourself just know that you are not going to make it in life. Self-motivation is one’s ability to overcome obstacles in your mind that tell you can’t do it or why should you even bother.

Self-motivation is when you get yourself in the work because you want it so bad and nothing will stop you even if everyone around you doubts your potential. People who are lazy in general lack this skill, your inability to self motivate will lead to time being wasted.

Here is what you need to do if you want to improve yourself in this regard:

  • The first part is to once again dig deeper within yourself and find what the perfect life would look like for you.
  • The second part is creating reminders of what that life is like, I recommend changing the background of your devices to fit that life and re-look at them multiple times a day and every time you see it will rend you that you need to work harder if you want to get it, this is how you motivate yourself when times are hard.

MAINTAIN YOUR FOCUS.

Everything around you has been engineered to destruct you, we live in a world where attention is the new currency. We see a trend among people where is increasingly hard to maintain focus because every day more and more distractions try to hook you in.

Maintaining focus has to deals with one’s aptitude to choose activities that will serve your goal over activities that feel good at the moment but have little rewards in the long run.

READING.

Successful people read a lot of books, on average they read about 40 books a year while an average person reads 2 books a year. You need to start reading and you need to do it right now, reading is better than watching audio or video books.

When you watch a video, the visualization of the information happens on the screen but when you read the information is processed from within. Reading evolves your main asset which is yourself.

HOW TO SELL.

Most people think of selling as manipulation instead of rationalized persuasion. Life is about interacting with others and selling is just convincing someone of the merits of an exchange.

People will trade their money for things that they find more valuable than the money they spent. The reasoning applies to time as well because people will trade their time for money if the money they receive is perceived as more valuable than their own time.

If you know this to your core, it will make you a great salesman because you will be able to rationalize and makes the sales easier.

MARKETING.

Many people confuse selling with marketing although they are similar, there are fundamental differences between the two. Selling has to do with the needs of the seller while marketing is focused on the needs of the buyer.

If you sell something because the company needs to make a profit, you market something as a solution to a problem. Being a master marketer alone could make you rich.

We live in a time where anyone can become a brand and you need to start marketing yourself correctly.

ABILITY TO MOTIVATE AND INSPIRE OTHERS.

People follow strong leaders. If you want to do great things in life, you need to become one, your ability to motivate and inspire others could increase the chances of success.

People are inspired by your example to show them that you are willing to go through hell for your goal and those who think your journey was worthy will join in.

The best thing to do in others is to become an inspiration is to become genuine.

From the above mentioned we learned that we can have the knowledge of how to do something, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that we have the ability or skill to do it. This is why knowledge is the ‘simplest’ to develop. An example is a knowledge to use a word processing application.

we need to have the ability and knowledge to develop a skill. It is difficult to develop a skill if we don’t have the ability to develop that skill. An example: skill to edit documents on the computer.

we can have an ability to do something, but if we don’t improve on this ability, it will remain stagnant and will unlikely turn into a skill. An example: the ability to understand and follow instructions.
